This might be a crazy idea: what if you could build instruments out of simulated physical masses and springs in 3D space, connect them, manipulate them, and just... hear what happens?

meet Anukari.

A software synthesizer and effects processor based on a fully interactive, real-time 3D physics simulation. You can build structures that ring, vibrate, interact, and feed back into one another. Excite them with mallets, bows, your own audio, and more. And explore sonic palettes that are wildly out of this world.

Anukari can be used as a MIDI instrument, an audio effects processor, or both at once. Build any 3D structure you can imagine out of masses, springs, and more. Excite it how you want with mallets, plectrums, etc., and pick up the sound with virtual microphones. Add more objects or take some away to see how the sound changes, and discover something you've never heard before. It's a full-on sonic adventure, and it's entirely up to you what your instrument becomes.

five ways to make sound.

Mallets strike masses with directional impact. Oscillators apply vibrating force using classic waveforms with ADSR. Plectrums pluck masses by pulling and releasing. Bows use negative-feedback modeling for sustained harmonic sounds, which are also great for flute-like tones. And audio signals let you drive masses with external or internal audio, optionally gated by MIDI.

virtual mics with a twist.

Microphones are directional, more sensitive to vibration in the direction they're pointed. In Anukari, you can rotate them via modulation for Leslie-style effects. Each mic has a built-in compressor for taming big dynamic ranges (or over-compress for interesting distortion). And here's where it gets fun: mics can be routed back into the physics system via delay lines, creating feedback loops. The delay time? Also modulatable.

LFOs, envelopes, followers, and then some.

The LFOs are sample-accurate and run from 0.01 Hz all the way up to 20 kHz, so yes, FM synthesis is definitely on the table. They're recursive too, meaning you can feed LFOs into one another. On top of that: MIDI-triggered envelopes, envelope followers that turn mic amplitude into a control signal, every MIDI control source (velocity, pitch bend, CC, pressure, aftertouch), and full DAW automation mapping is right at your fingertips. If it's a parameter... you can probably modulate it in Anukari.

BUILD

Drag masses, anchors, and springs into the 3D world. Wire them together into whatever structure you can imagine.

EXCITE

Play your creation with mallets, bows, plectrums, oscillators, or your own audio signal. Each one connects to whatever you want, pointed in whatever direction you choose.

MODULATE

Easily hook up LFOs, envelopes, MIDI control, or DAW automation. Just click and drag to connect them to anything.

PLAY

Hear it. See it. Break it. Record the audio and visuals from right inside Anukari and share what you've made with the world.

In addition to the basic physics objects, there are a ton of options for modulation:

Powerful sample-accurate LFOs which can operate all the way up to audio frequency for FM. MIDI-triggered envelopes. Envelope followers. And of course, every MIDI control source, as well as DAW automation parameters.

The modulation matrix is built to be simple but powerful. It's displayed via physical connections in the 3D world and nearly every parameter can be modulated.

With a full 3D physics simulation, you can build some pretty weird stuff. Try a loose chain of masses tied down only at one end, struck by three mallets in different directions, and watch it spin wildly out of control.

Push the physics past their limits and see how things explode. Create a loose, tangled mass of springs and excite it with white noise. And with full MPE support and Microtuning via MT-ESP, you're fully equipped for a full sonic expedition. What will happen? No one knows. It's up to you to find out!
